Dear Mayor Ives and Members of Council,

Some members of Comox Town Residents’ Association are dismayed by the removal of the Recycling Containers from the Extra Foods Parking lot and quality Foods land.  At a time when residents are being encouraged to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, the removal of Containers which facilitate Recycling is considered a backwards step.  We realize that it was not an initiative of Town council to have such amenities removed, but would appreciate any help you could provide in solving this problem.

Many residents have the convenience of weekly Blue Box Recycling at their homes: however, there are residents who live in multi-family buildings where a Container is not provided on the property.  Their items for recycle have to be taken to a public Container location.  Glass recycling has always presented a problem, but at least there was a Container for glass at Quality Foods.

CTRA Executive respectfully requests that you review any land owned by the Town, with a view to the possibility of replacing Recycle Containers within Comox.

Yours sincerely,

Patricia J. Halliday,
